Early 20th Century Chinese Republic period bronze sculpture. A fun and playful subject of a Chinese man banging on a drum while a little boy, sitting on a large gourd, stares in admiration. A fine casting with stunning details. Beautiful natural bronze patina.
The Chinese word for gourd—hu lu—is a homophone of the words 'protection' and 'good fortune. ' Gourds were considered to be good luck charms that would ward off evil.

Cancellations
- Prior to shipping or local pickup, buyers may cancel an order for any reason
- Please notify us as soon as possible if you would like to cancel an order, as prompt cancellation will reduce the likelihood that you will incur return shipping charges and restocking fees
- Once shipping has been initiated, the cancellation will be considered a return
Returns
- All sales are final 48 hours after receiving your purchase (Except Local Pickup — see below)

- For approved returns, you are responsible for the full cost of return packing & shipping plus applicable taxes
