Vintage Iron Mountain Stoneware Blue Ridge cups and saucers with black and blue design by Nancy Patterson. These cups and saucers were hand-thrown and hand-dipped. They are heavy and substantial. Stamped on underside with Iron Mountain and Nancy Patterson marks. Set includes 4 cups and 4 saucers.

Iron Mountain Stoneware (IMS) opened in 1965 in Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee. It operated for 27 years until it's closing in 1992. Nancy Patterson, co-founder and well-known talented ceramicist/artist, along with her colleagues produced many one-of-a-kind pieces by painting hand-built pieces with glazes they created.
Regarding the marks - "I designed the mark with no knowledge or homage to former potters. The IMS (Iron Mountain Stoneware) mark meaning is this: the square represents the four elements a potter needs: earth, air, fire, and water. The inside triangle on a vertical post represents a potter's tool. And the post with the two "branches" represents "man" or the potter." - Nancy Patterson
