Vintage 1950s Brazilian Modern Sergio Rodrigues "Sheriff" Sofa, Lounge Chair & Ottoman - 3 Pieces

Vintage 1960's Brazilian modern Sergio Rodrigues "Sheriff" seating suite. Set includes a sofa, lounge chair & ottoman. All 3 pieces retaining original maker's plaque: "Produced by ISA Italy. Ponde San Pietro - Bergamo. Arch. Sergio Rodrigues. 1 Premio Selettiva Cantu".

Sergio Rodrigues set the standard for modern furniture design in Brazil during the 1950's. His works have become a reference for Brazilian design, often using indigenous wood species such as jacaranda, rosewood and imbuia.

Italian furniture manufacturer I.S.A. (Industria Salotti e Arredamenti) -also known as ISA, ISA Bergamo and ISA, Italy, was founded in Ponte San Pietro a village outside of Bergamo in approximately the late 1940s. The company produced designs of Gio Ponti and advertised in leading magazines like Domus. By the 1950s, ISA had become a household name in Italian furniture manufacturing, working with Veronesi, Morbelli and Fiori. In 1960, ISA acquired the licenses to produce the "Sheriff chair" by Sergio Rodrigues.

This set is made of solid imbuia. All 3 pieces still retain their original rawhide leather strapping with no missing button knobs. Original cushions are either damaged or missing. We will include the 7 damaged cushions pictured. These damaged cushions could be used as templates for new cushions. New cushions can be custom made by most upholstery shops that work with leather.

Damage or Points of Notice:  Overall, all 3 pieces are in in excellent vintage condition. Frames have some very minor nicks, scratches and small areas of minor wear. The three most notable areas of wear are on the top of the front frame rail (sofa only). These three small areas of wear on have been stained, however not an exact color match. The difference is not very noticeable (however noted), and this area would be covered once seat cushions are in place. Will include cushions (7 cushions as noted above) to be used as templates.
