Desert Landscape Oil on Board by American Impressionist Artist Alan H. Curtis (1943- )
Oil on board by American impressionist Alan H. Curtis. This piece is titled “The Tables of El Dorado” as handwritten by the artist on reverse. Dramatic colors of the Southwestern sky and desert plains.
Alan H. Curtis is best known for his "Plein Air" style of impressionism. His paintings capture the beauty of the American scene, from the dynamic landforms of the desert to waterlily-filled ponds of Eastern Massachusetts and the golden hills of Northern California. Curtis has spent his life recording on canvas the scenes, people, and places most important to him. In his own words, an artist should be more than a painter. "An artist should build boats, be able to fix cars, create beautiful gardens, cook delicious meals, bake homemade breads, and whip out an occasional masterpiece." Curtis’ work, which has been featured in American Art Review magazine, holds a unique ability to capture both subtle and dramatic emotions. His paintings and prints reflect his talent for capturing diverse American themes, such as a hot eggs-and-bacon breakfasts, dramatic Southwest landscapes, California’s blooming hillsides, and the flower harvesters of Half Moon Bay.
Oil on board only, this piece is not framed.
